NIKE
Dri Fit Apparel for Men and Women

2004 – Nike hired Berkowitz to reimagine men’s and women’s sportswear for a variety of sports, including running, tennis, yoga, and weight training, focusing on their Dri-Fit and Nike Pro businesses.

Berkowitz and the Nike design team created compelling products still in production today, including the Nike Tempo short for women. That design started with a classic men’s bubble-back woven boxer shorts, but gave it a fuller seat and a rounded contoured side seam hem that curves up at the thigh to create more room for movement and bending. Since 2005, the Nike Tempo short for women has been a product leader and important color driver. Nike’s goal – to grow the Nike Apparel business from $500M to $2B – was surpassed.
